What is an NFT?

A non-fungible token (NFT) is a digital asset consisting of digital data stored in a blockchain, a form of a distributed ledger. The ownership of an NFT is recorded in the blockchain and can be transferred by the owner, allowing NFTs to be sold and traded. NFTs typically reference digital files such as photos, videos, and audio. Because NFTs are uniquely identifiable, they differ from cryptocurrencies, which are fungible. The market value of an NFT is associated with the digital file it references.

How do I purchase the Megaplex NFT?

Purchasing an NFT might seem overwhelming, but have no fear, we’re here to walk you through the process. Check out our walkthrough videos below for a more detailed explanation!

1. The first step in purchasing any NFT is to create an NFT wallet. An NFT wallet stores and manages your NFT collection. For this walkthrough we will be using MetaMask, however, there are many other NFT wallet options you can choose from. After creating your wallet and downloading the browser extension we are ready to move to the next step.
2. NFTs are generally purchased with a digital currency called Ethereum. This kind of digital currency is called cryptocurrency. Through MetaMask we will be able to buy Ethereum with a debit or credit card. The Megaplex Theatres NFT costs 0.25 ETH.
3. After purchasing Ethereum and setting up your MetaMask NFT wallet, the Megaplex NFT can simply be purchased by clicking on the “mint” button on the main NFT page. Minting is the process of publishing a unique NFT and making it purchasable. After clicking the “mint” button the NFT will connect to your MetaMask wallet and you will have the option to approve the transaction.
4. To connect your NFT to your Megaplex MyMegaRewards account, sign in and click “Connect My NFT” from the “My Account” drop-down menu. A pink hexagon will appear confirming the successful connection. Once your NFT ownership has been verified, please visit the “My Account” page to enter the address you would like your unlimited refillable popcorn bucket to be sent. 
5. After confirming your account details and connecting your wallet, you can access all membership perks! Within a day of purchasing the NFT, you will receive a welcome email that will include a link to the Discord server. Your limited-edition unlimited refillable popcorn bucket will be shipped to you as soon as it is available. Congratulations and welcome to the Megaplex NFT Community!

How do I enter my address for the NFT bucket?

On the Megaplex Theatres website click on “My Account” and then “Account Overview”. On the “Personal Information” tab you should see a pink link that says, “Submit Address for NFT Bucket Shipment”. If this option does not appear, double-check that your MyMegaRewards account is connected to your wallet. You can do this by clicking “Connect to Megaplex NFT” under the “My Account” button. After submitting your address, you will see “Address successfully submitted” confirming your address submission.

How do I join the Megaplex NFT Discord server?

After purchasing the Megaplex NFT, members will be emailed a link and instructions on how to join the Discord server. To enter the server, you will go through a quick verification process to confirm you are the owner of a Megaplex NFT. If you don’t receive a welcome email within one day, please email NFThelp@megaplextheatres.com.

What are Gas Fees?

Gas fees are fees charged for making a transaction on the blockchain. These fees fluctuate based on a few factors such as how busy the network is. Gas fees help maintain the security of the blockchain.  Because of this fee, you will need to have additional ETH in your wallet to complete the transaction successfully. 

What happens to the popcorn bucket if I sell my Megaplex NFT?

NFT owners can sell their NFT at any time. Holders that sell their Megaplex NFT will lose access to their membership benefits as the benefits are redeemed with the NFT. New Megaplex NFT members will receive a brand new popcorn bucket by mail. Old Megaplex NFT members that still have their NFT popcorn bucket will not be able to refill it for free.

Do NFTs expire?

NFTs do not expire. They live forever in the blockchain. However, the Megaplex NFT only grants its users membership benefits for 5 years after the original minting. After the NFT membership expires (after 5 years) the NFT will still exist in its owner’s wallet, however, the membership benefits will not be active. We hope holders will stick with us for the 5 years, but if the NFT holder chooses to sell on the secondary market, the NFT will be “moved” to the new owner who will be able to gain access to the membership benefits for the remainder of the 5 years. If a Megaplex NFT owner has the NFT for 3 years and decides the sell it, the new owner will only have the membership benefits for the remaining 2 years.

How many times can I fill my bucket at the theatre?

As the owner of the NFT bucket, you are entitled to refill your bucket as much as you would like. However, this benefit does not extend to your dog, cousin, or Aunt Marge. i.e. NFT holder benefits are not available to family and friends. This includes using your popcorn perk to fill other popcorn containers.

NFT holders may not share or otherwise transfer the benefits of the NFT to non-holders (Terms and Conditions Section 5.1.iv)

Can I purchase multiple Megaplex Theatres NFTs?

Yes. However, only one NFT can be connected to a MyMegaRewards account for in-theatre perks.
